Engines
You can choose from among three gasoline engines offered by the 2018 Countryman, beginning with a 1.5-liter turbo-3 outputting 134 horsepower, 162 lb-ft of torque and your choice of a manual or automatic transmission, in either forward- and all-wheel drive versions. You can move up to a 2.0 turbo-4 that puts out 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, or a more powerful version of the same engine, with 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. Countryman is also available as a hybrid that produces 221 horsepower and 284 lb-ft. The AWD Fiat has only one engine, a 1.4-liter turbo-4 with 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic. The 500L is not offered as a hybrid vehicle.
Manual Transmission
Car lovers have always enjoyed the intimate driving experience offered by a manual transmission. Both the MINI and the Fiat have automatics, but only the MINI also offers a manual – it’s standard equipment on the Cooper Countryman and Cooper Countryman ALL4.
