The MINI Cooper Hardtop 2-Door is a driver’s car with powerful performance, go-kart handling and precise steering. Its cabin has a unique design and is built with high-quality materials. The few differences between the 2017 and 2018 models are newly standard parking sensors and a rearview camera, as well as detail changes in the cabin like a new fuel gauge.
Performance
The base engine on the MINI Cooper Hardtop 2-Door is a 1.5-liter turbo-3 with 134 horsepower, 162 lb-ft of torque and fuel economy of up to 28 city/38 highway mpg. The higher-trim Cooper S and John Cooper Works models have a 2.0-liter turbo-4, the Cooper S version outputting 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft, and the JCW model delivering 228 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. All engines drive the front wheels through a 6-speed standard manual transmission or available automatic.
Standard Equipment
In addition to the newly standard parking sensors and rearview camera, the 2017 and 2018 Cooper models come with a 6.5-inch Visual Boost Screen infotainment system, leatherette seats, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Cooper S adds standard sport seats, run-flat tires, larger tires, wheels and brakes, a hood scoop and LED foglights. The JCW version has a stiffer suspension and even bigger brakes.
Optional Equipment
The 2-Door Hardtop can be customized into an amazing 10 million different configurations. Major options include a head-up display, automatic transmission, a premium Harman Kardon audio system and navigation. Other available features include an Active Driving Assistant with adaptive cruise control and forward collision mitigation, and adjustable shocks.
