MINI Model Reviews & Research | Wappingers Falls, NY

The fabled British marque, MINI, was established in 1959 by British Motor Corporation for its line of small sporty cars, including the Morris MINI-Minor, MINI Mark, Clubman and MINI Moke. Up-trim models were labeled Cooper and Cooper S. Space-saving front-wheel drive and exciting go-kart handling distinguished the MINI marque from the very beginning. Ownership changed hands several times between 1968 and 1994, at which time BMW bought MINI. BMW introduced the MINI E50 platform in 1998. Production of the MINI Mark and Cooper Sport continued until 2000, to be replaced by the MINI Hatch/Hardtop, and then the MINI Convertible/Cabrio. The Clubman followed in 2008, the Convertible (2009), Countryman (2011), Coupe and Roadster (2012) and the Paceman (2013).

Currently, MINI offers six different models in America, plus its premium John Cooper Works vehicles. They are:

  • Hardtop 2-Door (MSRP starting at $21,600): A gutsy successor to the original Classic MINI, boasting of BMW performance engineering, a finely tailored interior and premium technology.
  • Hardtop 4-Door ($22,600): A turbocharged icon with twice as many doors, featuring a TwinPower turbo engine, ferocious handling and premium features.
  • Countryman ($26,600): With available ALL4 AWD, a rugged suspension and top safety awards, this 4-door is unconventionally nimble and spacious.
  • Clubman ($24,800): The all-new Clubman is the most sophisticated and largest MINI ever, with unprecedented comfort, a top-shelf interior, split rear door with foot-gesture opening and plenty of cutting-edge technology.
  • Convertible ($25,950): BMW engineering in a new convertible format that provides a high-end interior, thrilling performance and infinite headroom.

Named after the legendary race car driver who drove the Classic MINI into immortal fame, taking advantage of the car's perfect balance, unique wheel layout, innovative engine and nimble handling. All JCW vehicles have more powerful engines, upgraded performance parts and signature design elements. The three models are:

  • John Cooper Works Hardtop ($30,600): The most powerful MINI ever, this 2-door pocket rocket goes 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, thanks to its 228-hp TwinPower turbo engine. Smooth torque is available throughout the power band.
  • John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 ($35,350): This bad boy is derived by the four-time winner of the Dakar Rally. It features AWD, seating for five, a 208-hp turbo engine and a full-body Aero Kit.
  • John Cooper Works Paceman ALL4 ($35,600): The ultimate 2-door AWD vehicle, packing a 208-hp turbocharged engine to handle even the most unsavory roads.
